About

Alexis "Treyaces" A. Aviles

I have been drawing cartoons and doing graffiti since the early 90's. With an urge to make my own super hero, or my own cartoon, I went to the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale for computer animation (This was the time when Toy Story and A Bugs life came out in theaters). At that point I knew my future would be about art. My love for art, animation, graffiti and science, has led me to the work I'm doing today.

At one point in my life, I could not draw a decent cartoon. I didn't even know what to write in graffiti. I didn't know what I was doing or what I wanted to do. Then I got canvases and started painting nature and the universe. The way I perceived it. And for once I loved the work I was making. I was not alone, because that work took me to The Scope Contemporary Art Show In Miami, during Art Basel.

Since then I have been extremely motivated to do more work and go back to what I love. Cartoons and graffiti. My current work is based on our obsession with guns and how they have been in our lives in one way or another since we were kids. Games like cops and robbers, cap guns, music, movies, but what better way to show that than by using actual scenes from cartoon shows we all grew up with that since have been deleted for being to violent.
